Event Overview
On March 14, the Seattle Choral Company, directed by Freddie Coleman, presents Baroque Brilliance, an unforgettable evening of sacred music by Baroque masters Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel.
Bach’s Mass in G minor, BWV 235, composed in Leipzig in the 1730s, offers a deeply reflective and intimate expression of faith, rich in counterpoint and spiritual depth. In contrast, Handel’s Dixit Dominus, HWV 232, written in Rome in 1707, bursts with youthful energy and dramatic flair, showcasing his bold command of the Italian Baroque style.
Together, these powerful works reveal the brilliance of Baroque sacred music—disciplined and dazzling, intimate and majestic.
Adding more artistry to this concert event is an exceptional roster of guest artists: sopranos Natalie Ingrisano and Maria Männistö, countertenor José Luis Muñoz, tenor Stephen Rumph, baritone Charles Robert Stephens, and the acclaimed North Corner Chamber Orchestra.
