West African Drumming

No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and an adventurous spirit! This participatory drumming class, led by percussionist and educator Scott Farkas, invites you into the vibrant musical traditions of Ghana. Scott studied with master drummer Bernard Woma of the Saakumu Dance Troupe and has been sharing this music for over 15 years.

Together, we’ll explore the rhythm and movement of Kpanlogo, a popular style from the Ga people. You’ll learn to make basic hand drum sounds, play in a group, and join in traditional singing and dancing. Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned performer, this class is designed for all experience levels.
