Publishing Guidelines

Accurate, useful event listings help audiences discover Seattle organizations, venues and experiences—and help search engines and emerging AI tools understand them.

Publish for the audience

The calendar is intended for credible public events that offer people an opportunity to attend, participate or experience something. Publisher accounts are provided to approved organizations and event producers with the expectation that listings will be complete and accurate.

How to create a useful event listing

The publishing form now enforces several of these requirements automatically.

1

Write a clear event title

Use the public name of the event. Avoid excessive capitalization, promotional claims, dates or venue names unless they are genuinely part of the title.

2

Upload a strong event image

An image is required for every new event. Use a clear landscape image that represents the experience.

  • Recommended size: 800 × 600 pixels
  • Avoid screenshots and tiny graphics
  • Confirm that you have permission to use it
3

Keep the description clean

Pasted text is converted to plain text to prevent unwanted website formatting. Review the result and use short paragraphs, useful headings and simple lists.

Remove navigation text, mailing-list language, unrelated promotions and anything that does not describe the event.

4

Check every date and time

For a one-day event, the start and end dates should be the same. The end time must be later than the start time.

If an event genuinely continues overnight or across multiple days, set the correct end date and confirm that the multi-day entry is intentional.

5

Use recurrence correctly

Enter a class, performance series or repeating program once and use the recurrence settings for its additional dates.

  • Do not create a separate listing for every date
  • Maximum 100 total occurrences
  • Maximum recurrence period: 12 months
  • Custom schedules require editorial review
6

Provide a reliable source link

Link to the organizer’s or venue’s official event page whenever possible. Confirm that ticket, registration and information links go directly to the correct event.

7

Verify the venue and location

Check the venue name, street address and map location. For online or hybrid events, clearly identify how participation works.

8

Review before publishing

Publisher events may go live immediately. Review the complete listing—including information transferred by GW Enrich—before you publish it.

Nothing transferred by the extension should be assumed correct without human review.
